Ok so I had to leave a review because I promised and they absolutely deserve it. I personally was not a great candidate as my hair loss was too advanced. All of the top of my hair is gone and they communicated they would be able to partially recover a portion of it but not all so I opted to not have the procedure. It’s all or nothing for me personally. That said the staff was So friendly and made me feel super comfortable. I even invited the staff to one of my performances because it would just be nice to see them all again. I had a great experience as much as my issue was not solved. Luckily for me, per the doctor, I’m not so bad looking either way haha Totally recommend this location. #Blessings and Good Luck yall

I had been considering hair restoration work as far back as 30 years ago. Since that point the technology has improved by leaps and bounds and the cost has come down substantially. I finally resolved to take the plunge considering numbers and qualifications.
• I did look at some 'bargain places' however all the ones I researched did not include a doctor at the session (they were only available on standby if needed). This was a bit too much of Russian Roulette for me.
• I chose Maxim with Dr. Barnard at the helm who is board certified. This left me completely at ease knowing that everything and anything would be handled without concerns.
• On the day of I felt apprehension because I was changing my look, but of course I moved ahead. The map of my new hairline was drawn on my forehead with clear and concise communication. I barely felt the pinches of anesthetic going under my scalp. With my head gone completely numb the process began. I would describe it as a tugging on the back of the head and actually hearing the hair being pulled out like a bright treble sound coming from inside of my head. This first stage lasted till lunch at which point I was given sushi that I had ordered, and then the implanting process began. I do not recall any sound or sense of force sensation at the top of my head. Everything wrapped up right around 4:00. My head was bandage and I was sent home with care instructions that I followed to a tee.
• My main concerns included patches in the donor area, numbness on my scalp (which felt weird), and also the healing of the incisions in both the donor area and implant area. For the most part the healing of the donor area and the implant area was complete just shy of a month. The numbness lasted about 4 months (which was annoying). That said, this is different for everyone so your results may vary on that. The donor site filled in about 4 1/2 months down the road.
• I just had my 6 month check in today. In my opinion the results so far are exceptional. From the front I now appear to have a completely full head of hair which looks totally altered from 6 months previous. The top and back have some filling in to do which will continue over as much as another year from now. (The process is slower in this area.) I am looking forward to seeing that, but already I am hearing compliments on my looks unsolicited, and I will say that I do like going out without a hat now whenever I choose to.
• Would I do it again knowing all the above?
Absolutely yes, provided Dr. Barnard is available along with his very exceptional staff that includes the brilliant Yunus. Highly recommended if you are considering going down this road.

The entire process was seamless from the initial consultation with Yunus to the actual hair transplant procedure with his brother Selim in Istanbul and the aftercare back here in New York with someone to keep watchful eye to to turn to .  Whether you choose to have your hair transplant here in the U.S. or fly to Turkey for it, you can absolutely be at ease, they are communicative and responsive, keeping on top of your care and progress.   While almost only a month out, I'm looking forward to seeing the full effect in a few months from now but in the interim, no one has any clue I even had anything done.  Everyone thinks I just got a crew cut! No scaring at all.

I had a great experience at Maxim Hair restoration. Michael, Yunus and the entire team were very professional and supportive throughout the entire procedure. I got around 3500 grafts at the crown and front of the head via the fue procedure and it looks great. Sonor area looks almost untouched and transplant area has been growing nicely!

I was hoping to make a plan for a restorative procedure after a bad hair transplant back in January at a different clinic. It turned out to be a huge waste of money and time.
Basically, after Dr. Shaver, in a quite dismissive way, told me THREE TIMES that I shouldn’t have done anything in the first place, completely ignoring my motives and concerns, and her advice was to go home and pluck the entire transplanted area with a tweezer and call it a day. Yes, I was paying for her medical expertise, and I’m not easily offended, but overall, her judgmental attitude was very discouraging. Mediocre experience at best.

I would have been bald 3 decades ago, but for Dr. Bernstein’s office.

They recently switched me from foam Rogaine to a pill form, once a day. I had heard about possible “shedding“. For anyone who is worried about that, while I am not a doctor, don’t believe it.

Some of my colleagues have bought their hair medication online. If you actually care about keeping your hair, it’s worth the few bucks to go to this office because they know what they’re doing.

I very highly recommend Bernstein medical.

Absolutely great experience from start to finish. Dr. Shaver is very skilled, kind, empathetic and responsive. I ask a lot of questions and she never makes me feel like it's a nuisance. I had a follow-up visit with Dr. Shaver this month (May 2025) that I want to share with those seeking professional hair restoration. Previously, mid 2022, Dr. Shaver performed "FUT" restoration for me (I wrote a review describing how pleased I was with the entire experience, including the result). After 3 years, I noticed that the transplanted hair remains strongly in place but that I've lost some ground with the "original" hair on top of my scalp. I consulted Dr. Shaver, and instead of trying to persuade me to undergo a second FUT procedure, she recommended medicinal alternatives to slow or reverse the thinning process. She could have "sold" me a much more expensive second FUT procedure, but she explained the medical reasons that that might not be the best solution for me. She is honest, forthright, and a knowledgeable and skillful surgeon. If you're shopping for a hair replacement doctor, give serious consideration to Dr. Shaver.

As always, the entire staff was awesome, on time and highly professional. Including putting up with my Brooklyn sense of humor. No small thing. Dr. Shaver is doing an incredible job of carrying on Dr. Bernstein’s legacy.

I heard about this process when I was traveling a few years ago and was at a water park in VA and a guy in front of me was talking about it with his buddies and I looked over and could not believe that was not his hair and we got to talking and he told me about SMP. I looked into and had a consultation and booked my appointment soon after. Matt AKA thescalpking is a true professional. He walked me through the entire process and answered all the questions I had. Once the work was finished I was shocked that it looked so nature and faded right into my hairline.

I had a scalp micropigmentation treatement 2 weeks ago with Ken Boyle in NYC.  I had received 4 previous treatments by Matt Iulo in the past and needed a touch-up after the last procedure 4 years ago. I add that I received disfiguring plug hair transplants 40 years ago, and have had 30 operations since then to try and look human.  I am also a facial plastic surgeon who performs hair transplants and has done extensive reconstructive work for similar men in the past.  I am attuned to these issues personally and professionally.
Without SMP I would be one of thousands of "hair cripples" who cannot take off their hats in public.  The initial work by Matt was life-changing.  The work by Ken built upon that base and enhanced the SMP result immensely.  I am by the nature of my work very detail focused, and also aesthetically critical.  Ken's assessment of my situation including prior scars, hairline design, treatment color and density was spot on.  He recognized the issues before I even had a chance to tell him.  His technical expertise matched his aesthetic acumen and I was overwhelmed by the result.  I find it remarkable that I can go out in public with confidence, something that would never have happened with ScalpMicro USA.

2024 I went to another paramedical micro pigmentation artist who calls himself a “teacher”. He ruined my entire leg and when I find Samantha I was very scared but she understood and allowed to do two testing spots so I was more trusting of the process. THANK GOD I DID. Samatha work is amazing. She very kind and compassionate. She shares empathy with her clients but most importantly her work is a 10/10 especially for those of color. BOOK HER IMMEDIATELY!

Samantha's experience, work and credentials are excellent. The studio is clean and professional looking. She may be a bit pricey but i'ts worth paying a little extra for quality. I had scalp tattoo to camouflage my transplant scars .  I only posted the scar camouflage photos here but because I was so happy with the results I ended up doing the whole top of my head which made my hair look much fuller. The coloring blended in nicely. I am very satisfied with the results.

Samantha has given me results from just one session. I’m a woman with melanin and dark colored scars. Her Bioneedling treatment has helped me more than dermatologist recommended creams and laser procedures. My scars are lighter and smoother from one session alone. She informed me of the correct vitamins I should take to assist with recovery, and they also assisted with my hair loss. She’s easy to talk to and very educated which makes the experience so comfortable. I will be back for a few more sessions for sure, because I can’t wait to see the final results.

I am immensely grateful to Dr. Ross and his exceptional team for their outstanding work on my hair transplant in March 2024. The entire experience was smooth and comfortable from start to finish. During the two-day procedure, I had the choice to watch Netflix or listen to music, and we ended up listening to music both days. We spent the time talking and hanging out while Dr. Ross and his team worked their magic. I even returned for a touch-up session, which made the already great results even better. Now, I can’t wait to see the full effect as my hair continues to grow in.

Within about a week, I couldn’t even tell I had a hair transplant just days prior. And I even enjoy telling everyone about it, including friends, family, and coworkers, because the results are truly remarkable. Michelle Tinsley from RESTORE played a crucial role, making the entire process seamless with her kind support, which encouraged me to go through with it. This is truly the "best" place to get SMP done in NYC, period. I've done very thorough research before I ended up at Art of Dot based on artist skill level, experience and level of details and I made a right choice. First, MK runs the business as a 'one man show', not a SMP factory where practitioners with lack of experieces that work on your head. Secondly, he will not limit sessions based on the price- he will keep call you in until  he or you are satisfied with the final result. The level of details are amazing and as you can see on his portfoilos, his dots look very natural and blends beautifully as sessions continue on. My barber had to look extra close up on my scalp as he did not believe I had the SMP done until I told him. Go get your consultation now if you are hesitant, you won't be disappointed!

But MK not only corrected what the other person did, but he improved my scalp and transformed my hair appearance to such a degree that I didn’t think possible!
