Bosley - Hair Restoration & Transplant - Richmond

My experience is a little bit different because I am transgender and am pursuing a more feminine hairline. My hairline has made me uncomfortable since I was in middle school and I am glad I could get this procedure done to make me that much less self-conscious. On the actual day of the operation, the initial part of the procedure went well and the staff was extremely courteous and friendly. Towards the end of the implantation of the grafts, the staff rotated someone I presume is a trainee in who was so nervous his hands were trembling and he had to receive frequent instruction from other attendees. I had no idea that they would be rotating staff, but ultimately this did not seem to impact the results. I will say that the results after the surgery have been very good so far, and everyone I show my new hairline to is pretty impressed. I think the pictures you see on Google searches when searching for "hair restoration" focus on negative results but I am very pleased and the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Update: nearly two years after the initial procedure, my results are not what I expected. Very patchy and thin, and even after a touch up last year I do not feel the cost was justified for the results. Lowering my rating to a three star as I cannot recommend this to people in my situation. I still have to comb my hair over every day and I'm still very self conscious about the thin patches that are right at the front of my scalp.

Left a huge raised scar. I was told of the scar but not that it would be raised and obvious. I had issues with my dissolve stitches. Show picture to place. Was told to remove them myself. For the insane amount of money for this procedure. That amswer was ridiculous. If they would have done a follow up or offered to assist with the stitches perhaps my scaring would not be like it is. Staff super friendly. But that's an expensive thanks for being friendly. There were complications other then the stitches. I just feel like you pay all of this money and after the day of the procedure, you are yesterday's news. No follow ups.

The day of the procedure I was very surprised. I went in thinking that I was going to be engaging in a hornet attack on my head and boy was I wrong. The Bosley staff was careful, courteous and knowledgeable but above all they used every tool in their arsenal to make sure I was comfortable! Roberta was a master at the anesthesia arts. She gave me an injection at the beginning to help calm my nerves and then provided site injections as needed throught out the procedure. She did a splendid job of making sure I was feeling no pain. "Sparky" (Tim) was one of the nurses that cared for me and he was exeedingly pleasant to speak with and very informative during the procedure. Nicky and Boris (Doris) were 2 other nurses that kept me in stitches the entire time I was there. All 4 of these professionals made me feel at ease and even cracked me up a few times 😊 Dr Epstein was careful and gentle as he planned the donor and transplant area. Dr. E made sure I was informed about each step of the procedure. He made me know I was in the right place with folks that would take care of me. Lastly, I really appreciate the care and kindness of Courtney who worked with me for scheduling and other details. In short Bosley is the bomb! Thinking about getting hair transplantation -look no further these folks are your team!

Bill was great! He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. I am a Vascular Surgeon and came to my consultation feeling a little skeptical. Hair transplantation seemed somewhat outside of mainstream medicine. It is certainly never mentioned in medical school or surgical residency. After meeting with Bill, I was extremely impressed with the techniques, technology, and results. I wish I had looked into this sooner. My only question when I left was, when I could find the time to take a day off for the procedure.
